I can’t be 100% sure that it happened the first time after Catalina but I believe so. Lately, several companies began selling MakeMKV as their own - they buy a single copy of MakeMKV, repackage it, add a nicely-looking interface and then sell. Being successful means that many companies are trying to copy our success, and some of them do that literally. (just video, copied audio, which was my mistake) of John Wick 2 to watch on my living room TV and yeah, about 20 minutes in when John is serving DAntonio coffee the audio cut and a message popped up.

Around that time, I did a clean install of Catalina. MakeMKV is certainly one of the best software for Blu-ray to MKV conversion. MakeMKV just copies the disc as is so cinavia is left on the audio track. I have no idea why this is happening but the only thing I can possibly point the finger at is macOS Catalina. It’s happened a few more times with other movies.

I put the BR disc in and went to that part of the movie and the scenes didn’t jump as expected.
And then watching further, it jumps back to the rest of the scene that was previously cut from and it became obvious what was happening. It was really obvious because the scene cut to another part of the movie that didn’t make sense and was so bad I knew right away that it couldn’t be a matter of bad editing. Edit: in case anyone else has this same problem, it may not be as hard as to fix. MakeMKV is a format converter, otherwise called 'transcoder'. Only happening with John Wick, so I don't know whats up. First time it happened was in John Wick 3. Apparently 300 files, all the same excluding like 5 for extra features. The important thing is to not allow it to shrink so file size in file size out. Alternatively you can setup DVDShrink to output an ISO file. If the DVD is 10 years old DVDShrink should be able to do it. Within the last month or so, I noticed some of the rips are ripping incorrectly in that it has scenes that cut or “jump around”. Then run MakeMKV using 'Open DVD files Manually'. However, I recently started having a problem that I’ve never experienced. To use VLC you’ll have to go into the MakeMKV settings I believe to allow VLC to decrypt the bluray. This process is so routine for me that it’s become 2nd nature. MakeMKV cannot choose the correct one to rip.

But many users find that there are hundreds of fake playlists/titles showing in MakeMKV while dealing with a Lionsgate Blu-ray/DVD disc such as Knives Out, John Wick, The Last Full Measure, Wind River, etc. I don’t encode them using handbrake, just leave them in their uncompressed. MakeMKV can digitize DVD and Blu-ray to MKV file for backup or convenient streaming. I rip Blu-Rays and 4K Blu-Rays using a UHD friendly drive. I’ve been using MakeMKV for several years now and absolutely love it.
